Why Craft?

6 months ago I created a new Instagram account focused around whiskey. I had been enjoying whiskey and growing my collection that I wanted to share and connect with others like me. Within a few weeks I already had several new bottles to share, or “review,” and was quickly enjoying this new community I was now a part of.

Then one day while scrolling through my feed I felt like something was missing. Every post was the same, not literally, but very similar at the very least. Each account would post a pic of 1 or 2 bottles or an entire bar/collection and each would contain the same things. They were all focused on major Kentucky distilleries; the Weller, the BTAC, the Four Roses Single Barrel, the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, the Wild Turkey Master’s Keep, and so on. I thought to myself, what about the craft distilleries? What about the small distillery down the road that just started last year or the distillery just one state away that continues to put out new and interesting products? Why is nobody highlighting these distilleries and these whiskies?

And so, #craftwhiskeynation was born! A page devoted to highlighting American craft whiskies and the craft distilleries that created them.

Follow along on our journey to discover American craft whiskey distilleries from Alabama to Wyoming and Hawaii to Maine!
